Copake Theatre Company is the newest theatre company in Columbia County, New York, and presents plays in The Grange on Copake's Empire Road from September through May. Soap Opera stars John Viscardi and Fiona Hutchison, who have settled permanently in Copake, started the company during the fall of 2004. They continue to serve on the theatre's board but passed the reins of artistic director to actor and playwright Carl Ritchie at the beginning of 2006.
Using a mixture of professional Equity actors and locals the plays and musicals presented by the company bring a unique, high quality of work to this tiny hamlet. The company is committed to producing new works as well as works more familiar to audiences. With workshopped original works the audience is encouraged to provide direct feedback to the authors and the company.
